“Fark Orf”

By David Meller

After the final-kick of the game penalty equaliser against Southampton last Saturday, and after cutting my friend Seb’s lip thanks to a flailing arm while celebrating, I fixed my eye once more on Southampton manager Alan Pardew and ran towards the dug-out. Pardew spent the first part of the game in the directors’ area of... »

Baker Bringing Brighter Days?

By David Meller

Tuesday 18th August: Carlisle United 2-1 Stockport County Saturday 22nd August: Brighton 2-4 Stockport County After saying how Gary Ablett was trying to instill a “survivalist mentality”, Ablett said in his post-Carlisle press conference that County needed to develop a “siege mentality”. It’s refreshing; rather than surviving, Ablett wants County to positive and attack by improving... »

Two Steps Back

By David Meller

Stockport County 0-2 Bristol Rovers From surmising that new manager Gary Ablett had begun to encouragingly mould his County side from the back with captain Michael Raynes at the centre, then came the self-destruction that shows the magnitude of his and new assistant and former Carlisle manager John Ward’s job. Within three minutes County were behind... »

Building from the Back

By David Meller

Oldham Athletic 0-0 Stockport County After a summer of discontent and with the squad weeks behind every other League 1 side in terms of fitness and personnel, County’s opening draw away to Oldham felt like a win – but it also acts as a probable sign for things to come. With only one shot on... »

Name: David Meller Team: Stockport County First Match: 95/96 v Manchester City to commemorate the redevelopment of the Cheadle End. Evenly poised at 1-1, Liam Dickinson ran from the half-way line,... »

AU released a great album in 2008 called Verbs. Later this year they are touring the UK, and will hopefully be playing some new songs too. This is a really fun popsong, with a kind of baltic feel to it. DF

Stereo Arcade are a popband from Sweden. They make really catchy art-rock, which has roots in the sounds of both Britain and Scandinavia. Thus far they have only put out a few songs, but if they are anything to go by this band will be worth going back to soon. DF
