26/12/09 – Derby County 0 Blackpool 2 – Utter drivel as Rams tank at Pride Park

By Ollie Wright

“Oh, it’s crap… It’s bloody rubbish” – Brian Clough I’m not sure how to start this post, which will, I assure you, be a  comprehensively negative one.  There’s so much that was wrong with Derby’s ‘performance’ against Blackpool that, like a malnourished tiger looking at a massive herd of drugged buffalo, I don’t know... »

Dickov defies critics, Father Time, logic, proves shrewd signing

By Ollie Wright

When Paul Dickov signed for Derby County, I commented on this website that it was possibly the least inspiring signing I could imagine. The arrival of the now 37 year-old striker, who was completely out of the picture at Leicester City, did not exactly have Rams fans jumping out of their seats.  Foxes fans... »

Introduction – Ollie Wright

By Ollie Wright

Name: Ollie Wright Team: Derby County First Match: Lost 2-0 to Wolves, 1986. All I remember is, we conceded, kicked off, gave the ball away and conceded again.  From then on, I was hooked. Best Football Moment: Got to be when Stephen Pearson scored the winner at Wembley in the Championship play-off final. Lowest Football Moment: Probably the... »

Tyson takes gloss off fine game at City Ground

By Ollie Wright

First of all, this was the best game I’ve ever been to, in terms of atmosphere and drama.  It had everything – goals, crunching tackles, some good football, controversy and two sets of players giving everything they’d got on a sunny August saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, there was also an unsavoury melee at the end, as... »

Match/War report: Nottingham Forest v Derby County

By Jamie Brown

I think the word they usually use to describe matches like this is ‘eventful’. There seems to be no middle ground with local derbies; either they fizzle out into dull draws because players and managers are not prepared to risk upsetting their fans by losing, or, as in this case, they are breathless, chaotic... »

Paul Dickov signs for Derby – Uwe Rosler to follow?

By Ollie Wright

As signings go, you don’t get much less inspiring than a 36 year-old centre forward on loan from Leicester City. But that is apparently the short-term answer to Derby County’s striker injury crisis, as a deal to bring Paul Dickov to Pride Park until January has been completed. There are probably good... »

AU released a great album in 2008 called Verbs. Later this year they are touring the UK, and will hopefully be playing some new songs too. This is a really fun popsong, with a kind of baltic feel to it. DF

Stereo Arcade are a popband from Sweden. They make really catchy art-rock, which has roots in the sounds of both Britain and Scandinavia. Thus far they have only put out a few songs, but if they are anything to go by this band will be worth going back to soon. DF
