Blackwell Wins the Sack Race

By Steve Welch

If a manager was to get the sack after two games, Sheffield United would be seen by most as an unlikely place for that to happen. Under the stewardship of Kevin Mcabe, Neil Warnock was able to stare down considerable discontent from the terraces as times, while it took a furious car park demonstration... »

Troubled Times

By Steve Welch

After an up and down September, being a Sheffield United fan has really not been fun in the past month and a half as a winless run stretches by the game and players continue to limp away, not to be seen again for a while, the fans are discontented, the manager under pressure, and... »

QPR Vs Leicester City – Minute by Minute

By Peter Jones

Post match – Great work from Leicester tonight. They worked hard and took their chances. To the pub. 95 min - Straight into the wall. The ref blows. 2nd in the league. AMAZING performance from our boys. Sorry it got so rubbish for updates at the end, it all got a bit tense. Please see... »

Tyson takes gloss off fine game at City Ground

By Ollie Wright

First of all, this was the best game I’ve ever been to, in terms of atmosphere and drama.  It had everything – goals, crunching tackles, some good football, controversy and two sets of players giving everything they’d got on a sunny August saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, there was also an unsavoury melee at the end, as... »

Match/War report: Nottingham Forest v Derby County

By Jamie Brown

I think the word they usually use to describe matches like this is ‘eventful’. There seems to be no middle ground with local derbies; either they fizzle out into dull draws because players and managers are not prepared to risk upsetting their fans by losing, or, as in this case, they are breathless, chaotic... »

Waves of Confusion

By Steve Welch

To a committed fan used to being at matches, listening to your team on the radio is a downright strange experience. The match is live, the crowd noises projecting through the speakers, the action unfolding as usual, and  you’re left with the nothing but the word of a couple of strangers to bring you... »

Match Report Sheffield United 1-1 Leicester City

By Steve Welch

Boasting identical records and having each having enjoyed a successful start to the season, the Blades and the Foxes met at Bramall Lane looking keep the early momentum going. Both sets of fans would have been anticipating a hotly contested encounter and they weren’t disappointed.  After the home side forced a couple of early corners,... »

Familiarity Breeds Contentment.

By Steve Welch

Left out of the station, snake past the recording studio and the Radio Sheffield office. Wander down the road and the first sight of the top corner of the Kop stand comes into view as does a throng of red and white shirted folk. A brisk walk down Shoreham Street, dodging those coming the... »

Away We Go!

By Steve Welch

A number of people I’ve met over the years talk of gloriously alcohol fuelled away trips, pre match rituals involving being in the local at opening, and entire days in the pub on the pretext of watching their team on the box. Until the Blades season opener at the Riverside, I on the other... »

AU released a great album in 2008 called Verbs. Later this year they are touring the UK, and will hopefully be playing some new songs too. This is a really fun popsong, with a kind of baltic feel to it. DF

Stereo Arcade are a popband from Sweden. They make really catchy art-rock, which has roots in the sounds of both Britain and Scandinavia. Thus far they have only put out a few songs, but if they are anything to go by this band will be worth going back to soon. DF
