A footballer to be proud of – Jason Roberts MBE

Paperback Mitre would like to take a moment to congratulate Jason Roberts on his inclusion on the New Years Honours List. He has been given the award for his charitable work through his Jason Roberts Foundation that operates in the UK and the Caribbean to encourage young people to play football.

Roberts founded this charity in 2007 and is well known to work as hard as he can when away from the pitch to promote it. At a time when most players are rightly criticised for their wage to attitude ratio it is wonderful to know that someone who plays for the club I support is actually doing something for the good of others with his status.

AU released a great album in 2008 called Verbs. Later this year they are touring the UK, and will hopefully be playing some new songs too. This is a really fun popsong, with a kind of baltic feel to it. DF

Stereo Arcade are a popband from Sweden. They make really catchy art-rock, which has roots in the sounds of both Britain and Scandinavia. Thus far they have only put out a few songs, but if they are anything to go by this band will be worth going back to soon. DF
