Non-League Day

Saturday 4th September is Non-League Day. With England playing on Friday night in some game or other, there are no Premier League or Championship games at the weekend. The Non-League Day campaign is a wonderful idea, that everyone who has no game to go to should go and support their local non-league team. »

Que sera sera…

Que sera sera…

Aston Villa 6 - 4 Blackburn Rovers (7-4 agg.) I don't know where to start with this game. I cannot remember a time that I have been through so many different emotions over a two hour period. I left Villa Park full of pride, confusion, and a hint of disappointment. »

“Oh, it’s crap… It’s bloody rubbish” – Brian Clough I’m not sure how to start this post, which will, I assure you, be a  comprehensively negative one.  There’s so much that was wrong with Derby’s ‘performance’ against Blackpool that, like a malnourished tiger looking at a massive herd of drugged buffalo, I don’t know... »

The 11-second derby

"It always feels good to beat Spurs. It even feels good when we don't play them and they get beaten, so it's especially good when we've played them.” »

A Lose Lose Situation

Monday, September 7, 2009
By Steve Carlton

Despite the fact that Grimsby’s away game at Port Vale wouldn’t have been that difficult to get to, the cost of getting into Vale Park prohibited me from attending my first Town match of the season. That’ll have to wait until next weekend. Instead, I made the short trip to Chorley’s Victory Park to... »

Tyson takes gloss off fine game at City Ground

First of all, this was the best game I’ve ever been to, in terms of atmosphere and drama.  It had everything – goals, crunching tackles, some good football, controversy and two sets of players giving everything they’d got on a sunny August saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, there was also an unsavoury melee at the end, as... »

Match/War report: Nottingham Forest v Derby County

I think the word they usually use to describe matches like this is ‘eventful’. There seems to be no middle ground with local derbies; either they fizzle out into dull draws because players and managers are not prepared to risk upsetting their fans by losing, or, as in this case, they are breathless, chaotic... »

Match Report Sheffield United 1-1 Leicester City

Boasting identical records and having each having enjoyed a successful start to the season, the Blades and the Foxes met at Bramall Lane looking keep the early momentum going. Both sets of fans would have been anticipating a hotly contested encounter and they weren’t disappointed.  After the home side forced a couple of early corners,... »

Kicking Lumps?

Blackburn Rovers 0 - Manchester City 2 - If City don't improve then they won't break into the Top 4. If Rovers keep this up then we could achieve the mid-table obscurity which we so crave after last season. »

AU released a great album in 2008 called Verbs. Later this year they are touring the UK, and will hopefully be playing some new songs too. This is a really fun popsong, with a kind of baltic feel to it. DF

Stereo Arcade are a popband from Sweden. They make really catchy art-rock, which has roots in the sounds of both Britain and Scandinavia. Thus far they have only put out a few songs, but if they are anything to go by this band will be worth going back to soon. DF
